Would you consider this example from a docu/drama to be racist?

I just watched a small part of a docu/drama (UK) about the lives of neanderthals and homo sapiens. The neanderthals were short, broad and very strong, they died out. Homo sapiens were smart and survive till this day. They used black actors for the homo sapiens and white actors for the neanderthals.
