Question about Dragon Ball Z.?

I was just watching the reruns of the show and the first episode of dragon ball z was talking about how the planet got destroyed and the guy said that four saiyans survived. but i was trying to think back and i only remember three. so i was just wondering who were the four saiyans that survived?
