My dog has irritable skin?

The ultimate flea protection is a spot on treatment like Frontline Plus or Advantage or K9 Advantix. These kill the fleas as they come in contact with the dog. Use monthly through the summer whether you see fleas or not. Then consider treating the yard with a flea prevention product. This can help keep fleas at bay. Next I would add some fish oil to her diet. You can buy it at the pet store or use the capsules for humans. For the capsules for humans, you can poke a hole in the end and squeeze maybe a third of it onto her food daily. Then next time you're at the vet for shots ask about trying another antihistamine. Sometimes one works better for a certain dog than another so your vet can give you proper dose for things like Claritin and Zyrtec. Be aware that it can take several days for an antihistamine to be effective so give each perhaps a week before switching to the next. Finally they make some pretty good anti-itch products. Look for the ones with cortisone in them.. shampoo, wipes, spray.
