How to stop gerbils biting hand? :)?

I have 2 gerbils and every time i pick them up they bite me. It is getting to the point that i hardly pick them up any more as it is so sore. I wash my hands before holding them, and i have tried gloves (but they just gnawed on the gloves), any more ideas?? i can't think of anything :D
